Nurse Practitioner Award

Purpose: To recognize an active DNA Nurse Practitioner whose professional practice and achievements best exemplify the goals and objectives of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association, as well as the Scope and Standards for Nurse Practitioners in Dermatology.

Criteria: The candidate must:

  1. Be an active and contributing member of the Nurse Practitioner Society of the DNA.
  2. Be practicing in a dermatologic setting for a minimum of 2 years.
  3. Serve as a role model by:
    1. Maintaining an outstanding level of skill and knowledge in the care of the dermatologic patient.
    2. Utilizing innovative techniques in patient care and patient education.
    3. Promoting mutual respect with both patients and other health care team members.
    4. Reaching out to the professional and lay communities in education efforts.
    5. Sharing professional expertise with DNA peers through involvement at the local and/or national level.
    6. DNA involvement of any type.

Submit: The candidate shall submit:

  1. Two letters of recommendation. Letters must be from a candidate’s employer, a DNA member, colleague, patient, or health care environment representative supporting the points in criteria 3 above. One letter must be from a current DNA NP Society member.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. Completed application.
  4. Documentation of attendance at DNA National convention, and other professional meetings.
  5. A description of the candidates NP nursing role activities.
  6. Any documentation of ways in which the candidate demonstrated the points in criteria 3 above.

Award: The recipient will receive $1,000 plus airfare and complimentary registration to the annual convention and NP Forum.
