Happy National Nurse Practitioner Week!

Happy National NP Week from the DNA! As your professional nursing organization, we take pride in the fact that you have chosen DNA to represent your dermatology practice needs. We would like to take this opportunity, during National NP Week, to "thank you" for your dedication to the profession and the care you provide for your patients.

Did you know:

  • There are more than 155,000 licensed Nurse practitioners practicing in the United States, providing high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered, personalized health care for nearly half a century.
  • More than 11,000 new NPs completed their academic programs in 2010-2011.
  • NPs hold prescriptive privilege in all 50 states, with controlled substances in 48.
  • The average NP is female (96%) and 48 years old; she has been in practice for 12.8 years as a family NP (49%).

Looking at these statistics, it's no surprise that the NPs are currently the fastest growing member segment of the DNA, with more than 540 nurse practitioner members! National NP Week is also the perfect opportunity to recognize and thank the many NPs that serve as leaders throughout the organization by serving on the DNA Board of Directors, the Nurse Practitioner Society Executive Committee, various subcommittees and task forces, and as authors for our journal.
